This event was developed, and conducted by JIM O. as a light hearted fun event for our members and WOW the competitors and the rest of us really enjoyed it. Lots of laughs. Competitors, 2 members on their own lathes competed at a time using blanks of 2 x 2 x 6 donated by JIM O. Competitors paid $2.00 for each blank with $24.00 being raised for our Library. The objective being; who could produce an egg cup which would hold one of JIM’S 2 different sized eggs in the shortest time. The finished egg cup with an egg in it had to stand up. We got some interesting shaped egg cups, but they all stood up OK. (Some leaned like the leaning tower of Pisa.) To start thing off Jim did a demo in 1.25 Minutes. Maybe next year we could add para mutual betting to the event!!!
Results were:JAIMIE + RUDY 1.16 Min; VINCE + PETE 1.20 Min; WILF + DON 1.02Min; PETE + DON 0.50 Min; TERRY + JIM O. 0.45 Min
