PROGRAM

The program consisted of shop tours. These started at Stafford Wagstaff, went on to Jim Osenton and ended at Wilf Talbot's place followed by a Bar-B-Que.

STAFFORD WAGSTAFF'S SHOP

While Stafford is a fairly new woodturner, he has already accumulated a nice array of tools including a Vicmarc VL300 lathe. His workshop is located in ½ of his garage which has street access. He had a box of wood pieces for members to help themselves. As this was our first stop, Stafford had a kettle of hot coffee and goodies available for members. He also had maps disclosing best way to our next shop.

JIM OSENTON'S SHOP

Jim's shop is located in the basement of his home. While a compact facility, Jim has all the toys needed and then some for making his very sophisticated turnings. His Vicmarc VL300 long bed is getting a lot of use. He make a lot of use of his bowl Savers and has rims hanging in every nook and cranny. He displayed some very charming pieces, many of which had rims of a contrasting species.

WILF TALBOT'S SHOP

Wilf's shop is also located in the basement of his home. His lathe is a Nova 3000 with a vacuum unit attached. Wilf is in the process of making a large segmented vase that has many, many mathematical variables. Wilf's wife, Gaye, put a great display of food and cold drinks on their deck which with bar-b-que hamburgers made a great finale. A number of members brought wood pieces and other items for sale/swap, however this part of our program was dampened from a cloud burst. SUMMARY This was our first shop tour and was enjoyed by approximately 40 members. A business meeting was held following the Bar-B-Que. (A box of partially turned bowls/center saved cores was left on Wilf's driveway. Call Wilf at 288-5698.) Many thanks is extended to those members allowing us to view their shops and the Talbot's for hosting a fine luncheon, and last but not least, our program committee, led by Jim Osenton.

RAFFLE

Kathy Somerville, Lee Valley, donated a Vacuum Gouge which was won by Wilf Talbot. There were various pieces of timber donated.

Proceeds were approximately $50.00 which was donated to the "Dale Keith Shed Program" as approved by members present.
