A special THANK YOU to Jaimie Berry and Henri Lefebvre for Auditing our records.

To improve our meeting area for the time being, JOHN CANNIFF is going to get a few members to come early to our meetings and help staff move some equipment around. This worked well for our March meeting.

REGISTRY

There has been considerable discussion in the past about setting up a register for members wishing to sell their turnings/do consignment turning. After further discussion at this meeting, the following motion was made, seconded and carried:

“WE INCLUDE A LIST OF CLUB MEMBERS WHO WISH TO SELL THEIR SERVICES OR PRODUCTS ON OUR WEBSITE OR VIA LINKS TO THEIR WEBSITES”

The Beaman Raffle Draw

While DAVE BEEMAN was absent, JOHN CANNIFF took over and raised $87.00 for our Library FUND. Prizes were a hook nosed scraper donated by KATHY SOMERVILLE of Lee Valley and 7 pieces of wood donated by JIM OSENTON.

Program

TERRY GOLBECK provided us with an informative presentation via pictures and comprehensive comment on his trip to New Zealand to attend their Artist’s Collaboration - 2002. TERRY was invited to attend this event by GRAEME PRIDDLE. This event is similar to EMMA LAKE CONFERENCE originated by MICHAEL HOSALUK some 14/15 years ago and which is run every 2 years. These events are run in different parts of the world at different times, and usually run for a 5 day period. Attendees consist of invited guests with artistic talent. Approximately 10/12 of the 70 guests were wood turners, with others having talent in neon, metal working, painting, carving, pottery, fabric, print making, upholstery, glass blowing, silver smithing etc. Materials are sourced by local organizers and made available to attendees who create all kinds of items which are sold by auction at the end of the event. This event sounds like a great opportunity to meet on a working basis with other artists and develop some artistic ideas together. Terry found attending this event an enjoyable experience and provided our members with an excellent presentation.

SHOW AND TELL

DON WEST displayed a piece of Mayday, partially turned green. He told us about his dying process in card board boxes done in his basement.

RON FALCONER displayed an Apple wood vase filled with a dried flower arrangement done by “Pushing Petals” in Kensington..

RYAN BOURGEOIS displayed a hollow form done with Maple and Bloodwood, with help and encouragement from BOB VERGETTE. Well Done!

in the Display Area...

Our display tables for Show and Tell now have nice cloth on them, thanks to DON WEST.
