of directors presented be Directors until their replacements have been elected
by the Membership.
- President Wilf reported that 3 of the above elected Directors will stand for 1 year, and the other 3 for 2 years. By following this method, we will elect 3 new Directors each year and this approach will provide overlap.

- Jim Osenton, Programs, reported that Shop
Tours will take place on SATURDAY JUNE 11. He has enough located in the North
end and is looking for some in the South end. The concept is to visit those
in the north, then have lunch/bar-b-que in that area, then proceed to those
in the south during the afternoon. So, if you live in the south and feel the
need to clean up your shop, call Jim @ 286-3667.
- Tony Lucas showed an example of inserting wooden keys into vessels which have cracked or have blemishes which could cause them to break open. Tony spent some time with John Morel for ideas and then proceeded to insert keys into a large vessel with a large expanding blemish. He turns his large vessels green and the ones displayed were Manitoba Maple. The starting point is making the keys usually of contrasting wood colour/type, then cutting openings in vessels with an edge trimmer and Xacto knife with a #11 blade to accommodate the keys. The final result was pleasing to the eye as well as stabilizing the piece.
Tony told us about the Cantos Music Selection. It contains many fine old pieces with nice inlay. The collection includes over 200 instruments from 246 B.C. to today. The display is located on 2nd floor, 134 - 11th Avenue SE. One needs to phone 543-5115 for an appointment to view the display.
Tony is moving to Kimberley, BC. So to provide him with arousing
send-off we did a kinda roast, led by Andy Lockhart. From this, we learned
a few things about Tony ie: One of our members is the only known guy who has
slept with him and stubbornness can be a hobby. Tony accepted our good wishes
with his usual aplomb.
RAFFLEKathy Somerville on behalf of Lee Valley donated a Spindle
Gouge, and Vern Steinbrecker donated a Candlestick Kit. Wilf won the Spindle
Gouge, and Jim Wallbridge won the Candlestick Kit. Proceeds from the raffle
were $105.00.
Jim gets General Finish's Salad Bowl Finish from Woodchuckers in Toronto.
They cost $11.00 a pint. The club could order some and sell at a slight mark-up,
however, we would rather not and it would be best to work with Jim if you
would like some, call Jim @ 995-1644 and he can order in bulk. Jim has had
great success using this "food ready" product. If you wish to order
direct, call John at Woodchuckers @ 1-800-551-0192. Furthermore if you would
like copies of Craft Supplies catalogues, call Jim and he can order from Woodchuckers
at the same time, or again you can order direct. Jim you might order a couple
of copies for our Library.
